Some were in their early 20s and were preparing to enter the job market in 2008
but the financial crisis and wave of company bankruptcies hampered their ambitions and shattered their faith in the future and the system.

This crisis, the worst since the Great Depression, has demotivated much of this generation, but it has also awakened their political consciousness, leading them to join the "Occupy Wall Street" movement in large numbers ("Occupy Wall Street"). .

This popular response to corruption, lobbies and financial impunity was born in September 2011 in the financial district of Manhattan, the base of large US and global financial institutions.
